Mina Brees death has been ruled suicide. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees’ mother died of an overdose while visiting a friend in Colorado. The Texas attorney was facing an investigation into her law practice when she died at her friend’s home in August 2009.

Mina Brees had a famously strained relationship with her famous son, Drew Brees, quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. When she was running for a Texas appeals court seat in 2006 she used her son’s pictures in her television commercials. Drew Brees asked her to stop using him as an endorsement, which she did immediately. She replaced the ads and stated she didn’t anticipate using his image in her campaign would upset him. That wasn’t the first incident, however. Drew had stated publicly that his relationship with his mother was ‘nonexistent’ since about 2000 when he refused to use her as his agent.

Meet Randolph Forde, a Clayton teacher charged for allegedly putting a “gay hit” on a student at Mundy’s Mill High School in Clayton County, Georgia. Read all about it here.

The story is that Randolph Forde asked a 16 year old student of his if he was gay. The altercation escalated in the coming days to the point where he reportedly asked a fellow student to “put a hit” on the supposedly gay student.

We’ve talked about some pretty sick and twisted people here on Right Juris before, but Ronald Hunt ranks with the lowest of the low. I can’t think of a worse headline than this “Ronald Hunt Caught Faking Disability On TV”. There’s not much worse you can do than that. The worst part about it was that Hunt was collecting payment from the state for his “disability”. The best part about this story is how Hunt got caught.

Is ex-SS Adolf Storms a Nazi war criminal? The former member of the former member of the 5th SS Panzer Division ‘Wiking’ has been charged with 58 counts of murder after a student accidentally discovered his name in records in connection with the massacre of Hungarian Jewish forced laborers in a forest outside Deutsch Schuetzen, Austria.

Andreas Forster was a 28-year-old University of Vienna student doing some research on the murders of forced laborers in a forest outside the Austrian village of Deutsch Schuetzen. The massacre of the Hungarian Jewish forced laborers happened during a forced march between Deutsch Schuetzen and Hartberg on March 29, 1945. During his research, Forster found documents that implicated Adolf Storms in the massacre leading to the 90-year-old former train-station manager being charged in the horrific execution of 58 Jews during the desperate death march.

Here is news and information about the federal governments gift card crackdown. New regulations proposed in Washington will limit the ability of gift card merchants to levy fees.

With all of the regulations coming out of Washington under the Obama administration it is no wonder they are trying to solve a problem that nobody knows exists. Who has ever had to pay a fee when using a gift card or had any problem other than the company going out of business? Comments are welcome.

The worst possible outcome has occurred now that five year old Shaniya Davis, found dead in North Carolina, has been recovered. The details of this case are horrific. Shaniya Davis was reported missing last Tuesday in North Carolina. Mario Andrette McNeill has been arrested and charged with the murder of Shaniya and her mother, Antoinette Nicole Davis, has been accused of prostituting Shaniya. Yes, you read that right, the mother of this five year old is accused of selling her own daughter for sex.

An interesting development in the death penalty debate, which is sure to lead to some pretty contentious litigation has been announced. The headline is that “Ohio To Switch To Single Drug Lethal Injection Execution” for future executions in the state. This is after a failed attempt to execute a prisoner in September using the traditional three-drug cocktail. Ohio would be the first to use such a method.

Jerome O’Hara and George Perez, former employees of Bernard Madoff have been accused by the federal government of aiding Madoff in scamming thousands out of billions of dollars. The former Madoff computer programmers, charged with conspiracy, falsifying books and records of a broker-dealer, and falsifying books and records of an investment adviser, for Madoff’s brokerage and investment firms, are currently free on bail. It is thought that the two also received “hush money” from Madoff so they would keep from disclosing the fraud to federal investigators.

This story is personal, and if any of you are reading this in the Phoenix, Arizona region I could use your help. Sherene Davis Reese, my wife’s aunt, has been missing since Monday. A missing and endangered person report has been filed with the Salt Lake County (Utah) Sheriff’s office and the Phoenix Police. Below is a picture of Sherene and her husband Craig Reese.

Sherene has some medical issues and has apparently stopped taking her medication. Without the medication she becomes disoriented and easily confused. The missing and endangered person report was filed Monday night with the Salt Lake County Sheriff. She called home from Phoenix, Arizona on Wednesday and asked for a bus ticket home. A bus ticket was purchased and she was supposed to arrive home on Thursday, but she was not on the bus and hasn’t been heard from since. After it was discovered that she was in Phoenix a missing persons report was also filed with the Phoenix Police.

Sherene Reese Davis is 38 years old, 5′5″ tall, approximately 130 lbs, with brown shoulder length hair. There is a possibility that she is at a homeless shelter in Phoenix. She may be wearing her work uniform, with a shirt that says Taco Time. Sherene may be disoriented or confused about where she is or whether she needs help. If anyone in the Phoenix, Arizona area happens to see Sherene please call the Phoenix Police Department at (602) 262-7626 or simply call 911. We just want her home safe and sound.
