Since the premier in April, fans have been glued to the crab fishing series. Now that Captain Phil Harris has passed away, there will be a ‘Deadliest Catch’ tribute to him. Read more about the rest of the season below, with more pictures and video.
Harris suffered from a stroke in the end of January and passed away in February. He was a big facet of the show and now the rest of the 6th season will be dedicated to him, including the exclusive “Deadliest Catch: Captain Phil Harris Remembered” episode, which you can see on July 20th.
The ‘Deadliest Catch’ tribute will focus on the relationship with his sons and crew. And since Phil was such an in-your-face kind of guy, he insisted film crews follow him through the stroke and after. We saw the blowup between him and his son last week, next there will be a stroke dedicated episode, and then finally the end of his life.
“Captain Phil was a father, fisherman, funny man and, most importantly for fans worldwide, a friend. We celebrate his life and all those he has touched. I wish this would never have been a story line of the series,” said Clark Bunting, president and of Discovery Channel, “but I am proud of the heart and emotion we have worked so hard to put into these very special episodes as a tribute to Phil.”
I think that sums it up pretty well. He was a crazy old man, but how could you help but love him? I am still sad over the fact that things ended up this way. Are you going to be glued of the ‘Deadliest Catch’ tribute? Be sure to leave me your comments after you check out these photos of those that stood alongside him and this quick video tribute.

His expertise, whit, and humor mad the show. It just won’t be the same.
I hope his son’s will carry on his legacy. He was just very special.

I was very sad to hear of Phil’s death. I watched the episodes when he first became aware of his health problems. I knew his time was limited but was still shocked when he died. I send condolenses to his sons, they fought hard but they loved hard and this has to be horible for them. I hope they can carry on the business for their dad and themselevs.
God Bless

What a larger than life character he was. His humor, his tenacity, his level of care and concern for his crew and his obvious deep love for his sons was always a joy to view. We will miss him and I admire those who have had an opportunity to have sailed with him. What an honor it would have been to be considered his friend.

I’d like to extend my sympothy to the family and friends of Captain Phil.
He was a lovable kind of grumpy guy you just had to like. He loved his kids and even talked about his death being in the near future and his concerns for his family after he was gone.
Captain Phil has been one of my favorites on the series that I’ve been watching since it first came to Discovery Channel.
God bless you Captain Phil and thank you for the adventures you brought into my life!

I cannot began to say why I feel right now. I’ve been in a battle with my own health and have been unable to watch since last year. but before than I was an ever week watcher, and Phil was my favorite by far. I just found out tonight while watching the show that he had passed, and I sat in tears and shock. I don’t know if I will ever be able to watch again for it will never be the same. To Phil, from one of your greatest fans, rest in peace in calm ocean water and with full crab pots. To his family and friends my heart and prays are with you. Always remember that you were giving the privalige of knowing him while he was here. I will never forget him. How could you? To all the other guys in the fleet catch a full crab pot for Phil. Best wishes and prayers to you all. All my love to guys, be careful out there.Love, Missy Burcham
