The Gaffney serial killer suspect was killed by police in North Carolina today. Patrick Tracy Burris was identified by police as the South Carolina Serial Killer who has recently terrorized Gaffney South Carolina. Burris was shot by Police in North Carolina today after they responded to a burglary complaint. The bullets found in Burris’ gun matched those taken from victims related to the Gaffney serial killer investigation.

Burris, 41 years old, was recently paroled after seven years in prison for felony breaking and entering as well as larceny. He has a lengthy criminal history, but it appears that after five murders the case has come to a conclusion. See a video report of the story below.

Burris opened fire on police officers in North Carolina around 3:00 a.m. after he was stopped and questioned involving a suspected burglary in the area. In addition to the gun that matched previous victims a Grey Ford Explorer also linked Burris to the crimes.

According to news reports from the Gaston Gazette:

Burris has a long criminal history beginning with blackmail in 1989 and ending with convictions for being a habitual felon, felony breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering in 2001. He was convicted of crimes in both Rockingham and Alamance counties.

Burris was released from prison April 29 and was supposed to be on parole until Jan. 24, 2010, according to the N.C. Department of Correction. His current location was listed as Lincoln County.

According to State Law Enforcement Deputy Director Neil Dolan.

“We have him. He’s our serial killer,” Dolan said.

Patrick Tracy Burris, the South Carolina serial killer was shot in North Carolina early this morning after shooting at police who stopped him to question him regarding an outstanding arrest warrant and a suspected burglary. Police matched ballistics and a vehicle used by the Gaffney Serial Killer suspect and although the investigation has not been officially closed, officials have confirmed that the suspect killed is the Gaffney Serial Killer.
