Lisa Mayfield, stepmother of suspended NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield has been arrested on charges of assault. See a mugshot of Lisa Mayfield below.

Nascar’s key witness Lisa Mayfield, 48, might not be so reliable after all. She was taken into custody of the Catawba County Police Department, after being arrested at the home of Jeremy and Shana Mayfield. She has been charged with assault, trespassing and public intoxication. Police had responded to a complaint, and was told that somebody intoxicated was pounding on the door.
Jeremy Mayfield and his wife, who were on their way to attend a dirt track race, were informed by people who lived and worked on their property, that they heard bangs on the door. When the Mayfields arrived at their home, Lisa Mayfield was already in handcuffs.
Shana Mayfield informed the police that she had received death threats from Lisa Mayfield before.
“She said she was gonna come back and kill me, that she wasn’t done with us.”
A warrant for trespassing has been issued against her, the workers and people living on Jeremy Mayfield’s property took out assault charges against her. Lisa Mayfield threw racial slurs and punches at them, before police arrived on the scene and arrested her.
In May, 2009, Jeremy Mayfield was suspended indefinitely by NASCAR for substance abuse, after testing positive on a drug test. Mayfield stated that he believes that his prescription of Claritin-D for allergies, and his prescription for the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder drug Adderall reacted together, and resulted in a positive drug test. His stepmother Lisa Mayfield was the key witness for NASCAR, in her testimony in court she stated that she had seen him use methamphetamine many times since 1998.
Jeremy Mayfield has been fighting these allegations. He stated that his stepmother is not trustworthy, and that he believes she killed his father, who committed suicide in 2007. He also accused her of providing a false testimony in court for money he believes she’d received from NASCAR. Sources say that NASCARS secrecy over the test results are politically motivated, Claritin was a sponsor of NASCAR at the time.
