You know it’s Friday the 13th when you drive your $1 million Bugatti Veyron into a pond. That’s cause enough for a serious case of triskaidekaphobia! Actually, the accident happened on Wednesday, but just made news today, so I’m not sure if this can be chalked up to Friday the 13th or not.

A Bugatti Veyron is a rare French-made supercar that sells for $1 million or more. I guess the price depends on whether you get it fully loaded or not? You know, you might have to pay a little extra for a navigation system. Anyway, the Galveston County Daily News reported that Andy House, 34-years-old of Lufkin, Texas, was out driving his 2006 Bugatti Veyron EB along Interstate 45 in Galveston County, Texas when he got distracted by a low-flying pelican. He dropped his cell phone, reached to pick it up, swerved and ended up in a saltwater lagoon off of Omega Bay. His car submerged in 2 feet of water and had to be towed out of the marsh.

You can see a photo of the car being towed here.

House’s Bugatti Veyron is said to be one of only 15 in the United States. I guess there are just 14 in the States now. He is reported to have paid $1.25 million for the car and is said to own other exotic vehicles while living in a $147,000 home. The car can speed up over 250 mph and is equipped will all sorts of bells and whistles, including four turbochargers and 16 cylinders.

House walked away from his Bugatti Veyron in the pond uninjured. That’s the good news.
