A California man allegedly paid teens to spit in his face. Charles Hersel, arrested and charged with misdemeanor child annoyance (this is really a crime?), after he allegedly paid a high school student $31 to slap him, curse at him, and spit in his face. Police are stating that there are multiple victims in this case and are seeking others who Hersel may have approached with similar requests. No official motive for Hersel’s actions have been given, but it’s safe to assume that he was doing this to satisfy a sexual fetish. Sounds like this guy would have fit right in on the Jerry Springer Show.

Child annoyance is considered a sex crime and if Hersel is convicted he will have to register as a sex offender and could do time in jail. According to reports, Hersel made contact with the teens over MySpace and then word began spreading through the school that Hersel would pay money for teens to spit on him.
Police then conducted a sting operation to catch Hersel in the act. Police are also stating that Hersel may have paid teens to urinate and defecate on him. Sounds like one sick guy.
I understand that Hersel is talking to children under 18 so they are always considered victims, but it makes me wonder what these kids were thinking when they were approached and offered money do do things like spit on someone and urinate and defecate on them. I know I wouldn’t have done that when i was that age.
Everything about this story gives me the creeps. Charles Hersel arrested is good news for those in the Thousand Oaks area. For this guy to have allegedly paid teens to spit in his face shows some pretty serious flaws in his thinking. Why anyone would think this is acceptable is beyond me. Hopefully he ends up in jail for quite a while. I know I would want Charles Hersel around my kids.
